It was a sunny day when my friend and I decided to visit One Galle Face Mall, where we loved to shop, grab different foods, and spend time. We had been planning to visit for quite some time, and we finally set aside a day to explore it through our schedules. OGF mall is located right in the center of Colombo, next to the luxurious Shangri-La Hotel and close to the famous Galle Face Green. Getting there was easy. We decided to drive along Galle Road, and the route was quick and straightforward. If you’re using public transport, you can catch a bus or hop in a tuk-tuk, and it’s just a short distance from Fort Railway Station and Pettah Central Bus Stand, so it’s pretty accessible from almost anywhere in Colombo.
First Impressions
As soon as we walked through doors, we were welcomed by the cool air conditioning – a huge relief on such a warm day. Inside, the mall looked sleek and modern, with a wide-open layout that felt spacious and fresh. The floors were shiny, the stores were well-organized, and everything just looked spotless. Even though there were a lot of people, it didn’t feel crowded at all. Instead, it felt calm and peaceful, which made us instantly feel relaxed. The whole place had a clean, luxurious feel that made it easy to just wander around and take everything in.
Exploring the Shops
One of the best parts of our visit was checking out all the different shops. The mall has a huge variety, with something for everyone. We started by browsing big brand stores like Nike and Addidas, which are always fun to explore. But there were also smaller, local shops selling unique items, and we spent a good amount of time just looking through their collections. Whether you’re shopping for clothes, shoes, jewelry, or electronics, there’s almost everything under one roof. We weren’t in a hurry, so we just took our time, wandering from store to store, enjoying the endless options.
Food Choices
After a bit of shopping, we started feeling hungry, so we headed over to the food court. The food court was impressive – there were all kinds of options, from international fast-food chains to restaurants serving Sri Lankan food. We decided on some burgers from one of the popular chains, and they were delicious. After lunch, we couldn’t resist getting some bubble tea, which was a perfect treat to enjoy as we continued exploring the mall. If you love trying different foods, the food court here has something for every taste, making it a great spot to take a break and refuel.
The Cinema Experience
One of the highlights of our trip was watching a movie at the mall’s cinema. The theater was fantastic, with cozy, reclining seats that made it feel like a true luxury experience. We sank into our seats, completely comfortable, and enjoyed the movie with excellent sound and picture quality. It was a wonderful way to unwind after all the walking and shopping. Sitting in those soft seats and enjoying a good film made the day feel even more special.
Family-Friendly Facilities
One Galle Face Mall is a perfect spot for families, too. We saw that there’s a play area for kids, where they can have fun while parents do some shopping or grab a meal. There’s also a large supermarket, which makes it convenient for families who want to pick up groceries while they’re there. Plus, the mall has plenty of parking space. All these facilities make it a great place for families to spend the day, with something for everyone to enjoy.
Ocean Views and Location
One thing that makes this mall even more special is its location by the ocean. From certain spots in the mall, you can actually see the sea, which adds a beautiful, refreshing vibe. It’s also close to Galle Face Green, a popular open area along the coast where people go for walks, play sports, and enjoy the view. Visiting One Galle Face Mall right after a stroll on Galle Face Green feels like the perfect combination, giving you a mix of outdoor relaxation and indoor entertainment.
A Day Well Spent
By the end of our visit, my friend and I felt completely relaxed and happy. We’d shopped, tried some tasty food, enjoyed a great movie, and soaked up the peaceful atmosphere of the mall. As we left, we couldn’t stop talking about all the things we loved and how we’d definitely come back again soon. One Galle Face Mall turned out to be a great place to spend the day, combining fun, food, and relaxation all in one spot. It’s the kind of place where you can let go of any stress, enjoy yourself, and make some good memories with friends or family.
