What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal data Let’s Bite the World collects when you read the site, leave a comment, send a message or subscribe to the newsletter, and what happens to that data afterwards.

What we collect

• Comments. The name you type and your comment text. If you supply an email address it is stored only as a one-way hash so it cannot be read back or used to contact you.
• Contact messages. Your name, email address, subject and message, so a reply can be sent.
• Newsletter. Your email address, the date you consented and where you subscribed from.
• Likes and abuse prevention. A salted, irreversible hash of your IP address. The address itself is never stored.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent personal data.
• We do not publish your email address anywhere on the site.
• We do not set analytics or advertising storage before you have given consent, where consent is required.

How long we keep it

Comments are kept while the story is published. Contact messages are kept for up to two years. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe, after which the address is retained only on a suppression list so we do not email you again by mistake.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email letsbitetheworld@gmail.com or use the contact form and we will respond within 30 days.
