My husband and I recently embarked on a spontaneous day trip to this iconic Malaysian destination, and let me tell you – it was everything we hoped for and more!

Our journey began at KL Sentral, where we caught the Red Bus to Awana Bus Terminal. Booking through the Red Bus mobile application was incredibly convenient and budget-friendly. At just RM20 per person for a round trip (total RM40), plus an additional RM8 for cancellation refund protection and travel insurance for both of us, our total transportation cost came to RM48 – absolutely reasonable for a day trip!
The one-hour bus ride was comfortable and scenic, gradually taking us from the urban landscape into the lush, mountainous terrain. Pro tip: Book your tickets online in advance to secure the best rates and avoid disappointment, especially during weekends and holidays.
Ascending to the Clouds: The Cable Car Experience
Upon arriving at Awana Bus Terminal, we made our way to the cable car station for the next leg of our adventure. We splurged on the glass floor cable car experience for RM32 per person (RM64 total) (one way), and honestly, it was worth every ringgit! For those on a tighter budget, regular gondolas are available for just RM11 per ride.
When we are going, the ticket counter was closed. We had to buy tickets from machines. The machines were user friendly. We got tickets easily.

Later, we grabbed coffee at Starbucks and treated ourselves to ice cream at Alo, enjoying these treats while taking in the misty mountain atmosphere from the outdoor seating areas.

One of our favorite moments was stumbling upon the First World Hotel lobby and learning that it holds the record as the world's largest hotel! The sheer scale of the complex is impressive, and it's worth taking a moment to appreciate the architectural achievement.
Another Rooftop Experience - The Main Viewing Area
Besides the indoor theme park's rooftop, we also visited the viewing area outside of the resort complex. This elevated platform is designed specifically for taking in the large digital display and is usually one of Genting's most Instagram-worthy spots.
However, just like our theme park rooftop experience, we were greeted by an incredibly thick blanket of fog that completely obscured the views. While we couldn't see the promised breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding, there was something uniquely romantic about being wrapped in the misty mountain clouds together.
The viewing area itself is well-designed with comfortable seating and photo opportunities, making it a perfect spot to spend some quiet time together - even when Mother Nature decides to add her own mystical touch to the experience!

By the time we were ready to head back, the weather had cleared significantly. The queue for regular cable cars was quite long, but fortunately, there was no wait for the glass floor gondolas – another reason to splurge on the premium option!
